The Israeli Association of Pediatric Pulmonology was established in the early 80's. This is a small Association (about 60 members), comprising mainly of board certified Pediatric Pulmonologists, together with few physicians from related areas, such as Pediatric Intensive Care, Pediatric Radiology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Neonatology.
The Members of the Pediatric Pulmonology Association are involved in both clinical and research work in diseases such as; Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Chronic lung diseases, Interstitial lung diseases, Sleep-Disordered Breathing, Respiratory failure and more.
The Aims of the Israeli Association of Pediatric Pulmonology are:
To Promote and further develop Pediatric Pulmonology in Israel
To expand the areas of interest of the members of our Association
To promote and develop basic and clinical research in Pediatric Pulmonology in Israel
To define and control the criteria for board certification of Pediatric pulmonologists
Promotion and development of new technology and medication in the basic basket of the National Health system in Israel
Current Activities of the Israeli Association of Pediatric Pulmonology
Six one whole-day meeting per year with presentation of research activities and selected cases
One yearly two-day long meeting (a full weekend) with presentations of selected research and case reports, discussions and debates
Distribution of relevant papers, guidelines and position statement on relevant issues in Pediatric Pulmonology
Organizing meetings for general pediatricians and family physicians
Training, education and evaluation of fellows in Pediatric Pulmonology in Israel
Responsibility and Preparation of Phase I and II board examinations in Pediatric Pulmonology , as part of the Israeli Council of the Israeli Medical Association
Our Association encourages members to actively participate in International Academic activities (active participation in International conferences (ATS, ERS, CIPP, European and North American CF meetings.
